A Collection of Experiments

289 paintings, from quick studies on A5 paper to 80 × 100 cm canvases. Flowing forms, order sliding into disorder, and surfaces that seem to grow.

Painting No. 289, acrylic on canvas, 80 × 100 cm, 2026
No. 289 · Acrylic on canvas, 80 × 100 cm · 2026

This collection follows a journey through scale. It began small and fast, on A5 paper and 25 × 25 cm panels in 2023, and grew step by step onto larger canvases, up to the 80 × 100 cm works of 2026: more space, more room for breathing.

Elements of style · I

Flow and movement

  • Ribbons, currents and long dragged strokes
  • The eye is carried across the canvas and rarely allowed to settle
  • Even still forms seem caught in the middle of a turn
  • Direction first, shape second

Elements of style · II

Order into disorder

  • Grids, stripes and repeated marks are set down
  • then tilted, fractured and scattered
  • Entropy, from the earliest Entropic works onward
  • Order is where a painting starts, not where it ends

Elements of style · III

Living surfaces

  • Grounds like skin, stone or smoke
  • Paint dabbed, dragged and scraped until it cracks and furs
  • Black veins running through it like roots or fissures
  • Warm light glowing from beneath, as if the surface breathes

Elements of style · IV

Entities emerging

  • Bodies, heads, horns and orbs pushing up out of the ground
  • Half-formed, still made of the surface they grow from
  • Figures that appear the longer you look
  • The canvas as a skin something is breaking through
